Ex-library rebound book with written title to the front board. Two sectional studies from 1873, in one volume by Dr. W. KOWALEVSKY: - SUR L'ANCHITHERIUM AURELIANENSE CUV. ET SUR L'HISTOIRE PALEONTOLOGIQUE DES CHEVAUX. and On the Osteology of the Hyopotamidae. 
 
The first section is written in French with 73 pp. plus three illustrated plates. The second one is written in English (Communicated by Professor HUXLEY (presumably Thomas Henry Huxley "Darwin's Bulldog") with pp. 19 to 94 plus five plates (one is a fold-out). 
 
The covers are DETACHED and present and the spine covering is missing. The binding is cracked at the center and the rest of it is otherwise secure. The front/rear endpapers are browned with some mild foxing at the rear illustrations and some pages with uniformly browned pages to the front section.
