The diaries contain reminiscences of literary figures including Coleridge, Wordsworth, Charles Lamb, and William Blake - of whose last years, according to Swinburne, Robinson's diaries give the best account. Crabb Robinson (1775-1867) was also acquainted with leading German poets such as Goethe and Schiller.

The inner binding on the second volume is heavily cracked and separated in one place and the inner spine cloth has been re-glued. And the binding on the third volume is shaken.
