Josiah Gilbert Holland (1819-1881) was an American novelist and poet who also wrote under the pseudonym Timothy Titcomb. He helped to found and edit Scribner's Monthly (afterwards the Century Magazine), in which appeared his novels.

 

Brown cloth with gilt spine title. Binding crack at center (string binding). and a spine shift. Cracking at rear inside board with some mild cloth rippling at rear cover and a fray tear at bottom spine edge. Original owner name with 1908 Christmas date at front free endpaper. Early Scribner publication (Thirteenth Thousand). Cover lightly rubbed with mild soil. Fair condition. Clear text with just a few scattered minor notations. Rear endpaper missing. 335 pp. plus ads. Scarce Civil War era book.
