A Southern biography. Randolph was a congressman; Mister to Russia; "Old Republican" or "Quids. He was a quick-thinking orator with a wicked wit. He was opposed to the slave trade but used them on his tobacco plantation. But in his will, he provided for their resettlement in Ohio.

 

Black cloth with pasted illustration to the front and spine. Just light speckled soil at the rear with mild cover wear. Very light spine shift with a secure binding and clean pages. The original owner's bookplate at the inside pastedown and some color fading beside it. About 8-1/4 x 6-1/4 with 278 pages. Hardcover book. Illustrated.
